Why Flashwell lives at the edge of your screen
Studying works best a few minutes at a time, every day. So Flashwell sits where you already are.
Most of us don't fail to learn because we're lazy. We fail because studying is a place we have to go to. You open the app, find the deck, start a session, and by then the moment has passed.
Flashwell turns that around. It is a thin bar at the edge of your Mac's screen. When cards are due, it glows. Hover over it and a card is right there: answer it, and the bar tucks itself away again.
A few cards, often
Memory research has said the same thing for over a century: little and often beats long and rare. Ten cards between emails does more than an hour on Sunday.
Flashwell schedules every card with FSRS, the modern spaced-repetition method. Each time you answer, it estimates how long you'll remember that card and brings it back just before you'd forget it.
Your own notes, not someone else's course
Write cards from your own notes in seconds: a question and an answer, a gap in a sentence, or a hidden part of a picture. You can also bring your Anki decks across, pictures, sound and maths included.
See your progress
The data page shows every day you've studied as a square on a year grid, the way GitHub shows code. Keep the streak going and watch the squares fill in.
Studying shouldn't be a place you go. It should be something that happens while you work.
Get Flashwell and give it a week.
